User Flows

User Flows

The path taken by a prototypical user on a website or app to complete a task. It takes them from their entry point through a set of steps towards a successful outcome and final action.

User flows are high-level diagrams which illustrate the various paths a user can follow. They can highlight entry points, critical decision points, and dead ends. These views give us a perspective to ensure the user has a clear path to the information they need, or task they need to complete.

A user flow is not a customer journey, which additionally leverages a personas, touchpoints, and the emotional impact of their journey.

Examples

Community Solar Energy

Entering from the various marketing channels, the user is able to discover their solar options in a number of ways. This was an impactful graphic which ultimately connected our marketing and technical efforts into one high-level view.

Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) Enhancements at DisabilityDischarge.com

With this project we supported the design of an online post-discharge monitoring submission form that would simulate a new TPD experience. This visual was key to informing how existing screens would interact with new screens, and also highlight key decision points.
